Abstract

Manuel Atienza (Oviedo, 1951) is the Head of the Department of Legal Philosophy, University of Alicante. Editor of DOXA - Cuadernos de Filosofía del Derecho and director of the Master in juridical argumentation. Former vice president of the World Association of Legal and Social Philosophy. He has been visiting professor at Harvard Law School and Cornell University. Doctor Honoris Causa by several Latin American Universities. Author of numerous articles and approximately 20 books, including: Las razones del derecho (1991), Tras la justicia (1993), Las piezas del derecho (together with Juan Ruiz Manero, 1996; (English version: A Theory of Legal Sentences, 1998), El sentido del derecho (2001), Bioética, Derecho y argumentación (2004), El derecho como argumentación (2006), Para una teoría postpositivista del Derecho (together with Juan Ruiz Manero, 2009), Curso de argumentación jurídica (2012).
