Abstract

The debate on the regulation of information technologies within international law has been the subject of in-depth analysis, given the rapid pace of technological advancement and the limited capacity of legal frameworks to adapt to these changes. This article examines the tensions between technological evolution and existing regulatory structures, focusing on regulating e-commerce within the context of International Economic Law. It highlights the increasingly active role of the World Trade Organization in developing new rules to address current trends in e-commerce, with particular emphasis on the Joint Initiative on E-Commerce, launched on July 26, 2024, underscoring its distinctive features.
