Archiving and digital preservation policy

Ciencia Jurídica is firmly committed to the long-term preservation, restoration, and recovery of its contents. Accordingly, it has established a comprehensive digital preservation policy that includes the following measures:

  • Format conversion to more secure and durable alternatives.

  • Periodic integrity checks to prevent file corruption or loss.

  • Continuous monitoring of the technological environment to anticipate the need for migrations in the face of obsolete formats or software.

The preservation policy also provides for the permanent storage of the journal in the Institutional Repository of the University of Guanajuato, as well as the assignment of a DOI to each article.

The journal’s website operates through Open Journal Systems (OJS), an open-source software developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP), which offers preservation services through Portico or CLOCKSS. This enables integration into the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), ensuring the creation of permanent archives via the LOCKSS system, intended to safeguard original contents, restore them when necessary, and facilitate their distribution among libraries and digital repositories.

Additionally, the printed version of the journal is available at the Lic. Manuel Cervantes Library of the University of Guanajuato, providing a complementary and durable means of physical preservation.
